2019 Graduate Panel

1:30–2:30pm Wednesday 24 July, 2019

Events Room 01 / Gallagher Hub / Wintec

A well-loved Ramp tradition, this panel brings together creatives who found their feet at Wintec and who have gone on to do great things in their respective industries. This is a must for all Wintec students, no matter what creative area you’re studying in, but attendees of all ages and professions can learn something from these grads!

After studying a Bachelor of Media Arts in Graphic Design, Chanel Gray has forged a career path within the New Zealand clothing industry. She will be touching on pain points throughout her studies and her career and how she persevered to become a Regional Manager at Hallensteins and run a 30 million dollar section of the business.

Arana Taha majored in Public Relations, but has since become self-taught in a multitude of disciplines including graphic design, front-end web development, photography and videography. His marketing career started when he was only 16 as a graphic designer for Radio Tainui — ask him the story! Arana currently works as the Head of Marketing for Yamaha Motor Australia. He will provide valuable insight into the current industry climate, what this means for prospective graduates and how to improve your chances of success in an already uber-competitive market.

With qualifications in Media Arts and Public Relations, Kaycie O’Connor has had commercial success in the photography industry with a number of exhibitions, publications and art awards to her name. Her love of photography, graphic design, illustration, writing and other crafty side projects provide her with many opportunities to stretch her creative muscles. As well as detailing her journey to her current position as Marketing Manager for Wide Open Distributors, Kaycie will be sharing on the unpredictability of art, and the ability to capture something that resonates with yourself and others too.

Look out for Chanel’s workshop on becoming a Millennial Boss, and Arana Taha’s workshop on forging a career in the marketing industry, as spaces will fill fast!
