Design Industry Breakfast
The Design Industry Breakfast is a Ramp Festival tradition, and provides an opportunity for creative presenters, industry professionals, tutors and students to connect with each other over a delicious breakfast. Alan Deare of AREA Design, and the man behind our new Ramp Festival branding, will ask questions of our presenters about their design ethos, practice and recent projects.
Our 2019 panellists include Michaela Webb and Rob Nudds, the Creative Director and Strategy Director of Melbourne design studio Round. Michaela is committed to ensuring that design is part of the conversation across a variety of industries, while Rob’s focus is on shaping brand strategy and combining creative thinking and design with human need. Together they have shaped the brand and visual direction of Decibel Architecture, the Marion wine bar, Melbourne Fashion Week and the Ian Potter Museum of Art, as well as helping to reimagine Melbourne’s East End.
Michaela and Rob will be joined by Matt Arnold and Tim Kelleher of digital design agency Sons & Co. These two Kiwis value simplicity, design, good manners and a sense of humour over everything else, a style which has seen them create the popular Neat Places website alongside stunning platforms for Tennent Brown Architects, Garbett Design Studio, Enjoy Art Gallery, and more. Last year alone they received one gold, one silver and three bronze awards at the Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Design Awards. They’ll provide a focus on designing for designers — the challenges and joys of pleasing clients who are designers themselves.
