Film Screening: A Place to Call Home
Film screening and a Q&A with the Director of A Place to Call Home
Briar March’s recent film A Place to Call Home (2015) will be screened Wednesday evening at the Lido Cinema. The feature-length documentary has just premiered at the 2015 Documentary Edge Film Festival where it was picked as a ‘film not to be missed’. It provides a general examination of New Zealand’s state housing situation. Told through the stories of two women with opposing views, it shows the plight of several Glen Innes tenants in Auckland who are resisting eviction from their homes, while showing how Northland residents are hoping to benefit.
The documentary is raw and brave and explores a topic that is extremely relevant in today’s environment of unaffordable housing and housing reforms. It is definitely a must-see.
The screening will be followed by Q&A with the Director.
