Guto Barra & Beco Dranoff

The team produced the documentary music film Beyond Ipanema; a mash-up of thoughts and ideas on the subject of the ever repeating cycle of how Brazilian music world-wide remains in a continuous cycle of re-discovery. This film surveys the Brazilian music experience outside of Brazil and will premier in New Zealand during SPARK festival.

Guto Barra graduated in Journalism at the Catholic University in Sao Paulo and worked as a reporter for Brazil's largest main newspaper. He relocated to New York in early 1997 to run his company Planet Pop which quickly became one of the main entertainment news sources for major Brazilian media outlets. His interest in the music of his home country inspired him to follow the wave of Brazilian music in the American market in the past decade. He became increasingly interested in film making. In 2003 he directed his first full-length documentary Clash of Cultures

Beco Dranoff graduated in 1988 in Mass Media/Communications studies with specialisation in Radio and TV at Sao Paulo's FAAp University. The same year he moved to New York where he still works as an A&R (Artist and Repertoire) talent scout, producer, music supervisor and compiler. Beco has been involved in many aspects of the music industry through his company Atmosphere Inc. and co-founded the Ziriguiboom label whose aim it is to expose and release modern artists from Brazil. He is currently producing two original music projects - Sambismo and Ondular
