NZIA present Jeremy Salmond

5:30–7:00pm Thursday 25 July, 2019

Events Room 01 / Gallagher Hub / Wintec

The Pompallier Printing House in Russell. Mission House on Kawau Island. The Civic Theatre in Auckland. The Turangawaewae Marie in Ngāruawāhia. Scared Heart Cathedral in Wellington. These buildings all have one name in common: Jeremy Salmond.

Jeremy is many things to the architectural industry – all of them good. He is an advocate for New Zealand’s heritage buildings; a collaborator on many significant projects; a mentor to generations of young architects; and, above all, an upholder of the best of architecture’s values and traditions. Jeremy will be speaking on his career, which spans nearly five decades, and the projects he has worked on across those years.

He has always been acutely aware that for old buildings to have a life they must have contemporary relevance. This mindset has seen him be awarded with the New Zealand Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 2018 for his work within the industry. His Auckland-based architecture and conservation practice Salmond Reed Architects has also enjoyed commercial success.

This event is a collaboration between the New Zealand Institute of Architect’s Waikato Branch and Wintec’s Ramp Festival.
