Katie Kerr
Katie Kerr leads a graphic design practice that focuses on the creation of publications, identities and printed materials in the broad field of the cultural sector. Her small studio produces work for a range of publishers, artists, clients and organisations around the world.
Alongside client work, Katie produces experimental paperback books through GLORIA, a publishing platform that she runs with Berlin-based photographer Alice Connew. GLORIA functions as a research facility to explore an interdisciplinary approach to publishing, research and graphic design. Her latest book Dwelling in the Margins: Art Publishing in Aotearoa explores the past, present and future of art publishing in New Zealand.
Katie holds a MFA from Ilam School of Fine Art and lectures in publication design at AUT. She also has a hand in studio space Strange Haven, art bookstore Strange Goods and art book distributor Expensive Hobby.
Katie’s workshop will be on ‘The Art of Art Publishing’ — a step-by-step guide to self-publishing an artist-made book. Please come along with a project in mind in order to workshop together.
