Lucky Seat Prize 2013
Competition and failure: Two opposing poles that open up a space in-between for potential responses. And the potential for both success and failure are palpable at amateur dance competitions. This latest work by Sandy Gibbs, Lucky Seat Prize, observes the world of suburban tap dancing competitions through the recollections of a local tap dancing family. Lucky Seat prize is the first in a series of new works commissioned for Ramp Gallery exploring traditions of oral history and storytelling, curated by Ramp Gallery Curator, Kim Paton.
