Ngahuia Te Awekotuku MA (Hons), Ph.D, is a Professor at the Maori & Psychology Research Unit, University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand. She is co-leading the Marsden funded project, Ta Moko - Culture, Body Modification & the Psychology of Identity. She has been a Maori cultural activist for over three decades. Her second book of short fiction, Ruahine: Mythic Women, has just been released by Huia Publishers. Described as "a subtle trickster's voice that journeys from alien abduction to vampirism via love, revenge and sexual trespass", Ruahine is about new ways of seeing, imaging, telling. The stories reflect our worlds in this millennium - textured by other times, other realities. And they also engage the arts, both contemporary and traditional. Nau mai! Kia ora! Check it out!
