RG.05 / R Block / Wintec

If you’re an artist within the Waikato community, join us for a practical workshop with renowned New Zealand artist Nicola Farquhar! Nicola graduated with a Master of Fine Art from Elam School of Fine Arts in 2009 and has been making waves in the national art scene since, holding solo shows with galleries in Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Hong Kong.

During her talk Nicola will be giving insight into gathering subject matter for paintings and methods of her practice, as well as talking about the practicalities of the art world. She’ll also be giving some valuable advice as to how you can stay motivated and maintain an innovative practice. At the end of last year she was the Parehuia McCahon House artist resident for three months, holding open studios and artist talks as part of the honour, so she’ll have some great stories to share.

Nicola’s work will be showing at the Calder and Lawson Gallery later in the year, in a show curated by Laree Payne, Director of Weasel Gallery.

Thanks to Creative New Zealand’s Creative Communities scheme funding scheme for this workshop.
