NZIA and Ramp Festival present Ida&Billy Architects

12:15–1:15pm Tuesday 23 July, 2019

Events Room 01 / Gallagher Hub / Wintec

Join Ida Sze and Billy Chan for a talk on resolving problems and creating architectural interest out of simplicity and an integrated whole. They have discovered this is best done through caring attention to the requirements and characteristics of the programme, clients, users and sites to find out the individual projects’ meaning and potential. These meanings and potentials become a rich source of ideas, to be developed and experimented on, to arrive at a genuine identity for each particular project.

The duo have combined diverse cultural backgrounds with more than 18 years of experience into Ida&Billy Architects, founded in Hong Kong in 2013. Ida and Billy have worked underneath architectural masters Herzog un de Meuron, Steven Holl and Rocco Yim, and have experience in pavilion, club house, residential house, residential tower, museum and stadium design. The studio was listed by Wallpaper* Magazine’s Architects Directory in 2018 as one of the 20 Emerging Architects From the Globe.

This event is a collaboration between the New Zealand Institute of Architect’s Waikato Branch and Wintec’s Ramp Festival.
