Petra Salsjö (Aus)
An artist who loves to immerse herself in almost every area of music making, Petra Salsjö is your go-to for advice on instruments, songwriting and composing scores for films, television and art installations.
A pianist and vocalist – trained in both classical music and jazz improvisation – she has composed, orchestrated, recorded and mixed the original music for several short films, such as the multi-award winning ‘The Telegram Man’ and ‘Miro’, which received a Red Poppy Award for Best Music at the Veterans Film Festival in 2017.
Composing scores is not all Petra does though; she has also released two independent albums and was awarded a Victorian Arts Grant to support national touring, song placement, co-writing and high rotation airplay.
Hear Petra talk about her commitment to the musical journey as she plays examples of her work from the past two decades, both recorded and live; how she used her skills to bullishly create a career in music; and her experiences as a pop writer, indie touring artist, jazz pianist and award winning composer.
Petra’s desire is to fulfil a creative life with constant transformation and commitment, so wherever your creative interests lie this is one presentation you won’t want to miss.
