The tail shouldn’t wag the dog – Integrated standards and assessment

This presentation covers recent findings from schools that have explored an integrated approach to the delivery of internal visual arts achievement standards. The approach links research, technical skills, and thematic concerns, in a cyclical ‘iterative’ process that drives the continuous evolution of student propositions. From the resulting body of work (or naturally occurring evidence), assessment decisions can be made in relation to research analysis understanding, technical and pictorial skills, and the sustained advancement of personal ideas.

Key focus areas include the role of practice led research, managing administrative requirements of assessment, and shifting assessment from credit focus to achievement focus. The approach has the potential to enhance student engagement, improve achievement, and reduce assessment workload.

At Geoff’s session we’ll be workshopping and continuing those conversations over a shared lunch afterwards.

Registration as below – please register for catering purposes and note no need for student ID
